Fremantle Cemetery, established in 1899, holds significant historical value and continues to serve the burial, cremation, entombment and memorialisation needs of the Western Australian community.

Chapels 

Fremantle Cemetery features two main chapels: the West Chapel and the East Chapel. The West Chapel accommodates up to 220 people seated and an additional 250 standing. The East Chapel can hold up to 65 people seated and another 75 standing. Both chapels are equipped with state-of-the-art multimedia technology and offer live streaming options.

Outdoor Committal Area

This area is a popular choice during warmer months, providing an informal alternative to the traditional chapel setting.

Cremation Services

Fremantle offers cremation services in both the East and West Chapels, providing a comfortable and respectful setting for funeral services. A viewing room is available for families who wish to witness the committal of the casket.

Burial Options

Fremantle Cemetery offers various burial plots, including monumental, lawn, and natural burial areas. Monumental graves can accommodate up to three interments and are located in denominational non-grassed areas. Lawn graves are available in manicured turf areas with headstones up to 1.05 meters in height. Natural burials provide a sustainable resting place with minimal disturbance to the natural environment.

Entombment in Fremantle

The Fremantle Mausoleum, winner of multiple architectural awards, was opened in 2005 and comprises 1032 crypts in three distinct areas: the Chapel area, the Terraces, and the Garden Crypts. Crypts are available for pre-purchase or at the time of need.

Family Graves

Fremantle Cemetery allows for the reunification of family members within the same grave, creating a site of cross-generational family importance. Inquiries about existing family graves can be made to determine if using an existing grave is viable.

Function Centre

The condolence lounges offer spaces for post-service gatherings, providing a comfortable environment for family and friends to share memories and support each other. Catering services are available through Celeste Catering, offering a variety of menu options, including dietary-specific and culturally tailored menus.

Memorial Options at Fremantle Cemetery

Fremantle Cemetery offers a wide range of memorial options, from traditional rose memorials to simple commemorative plaques. For those not wishing to establish a memorial within the grounds, a selection of decorative urns and items for storing cremated remains is available.

Hetherington Funerals did an amazing job in helping organise and implement my Father in law’s Memorial Service. It was held at their Chapel in Maddington. We could not fault any of it, it was respectful, dignified and every thing my Mother in law requested.
